HOW SOUL IS CREATED

At Soul®, crafting the finest cachaça begins with selecting the highest quality ingredients. Our journey starts in the lush estates of southern Brazil, where we cultivate our sugar cane under optimal conditions. Grown naturally and with careful attention, our sugar cane undergoes a rigorous quality inspection before it is meticulously cut and pressed to extract the sugar cane juice. This crucial step occurs within four hours of cutting, ensuring the juice retains its unparalleled freshness and rich, natural flavors.

Immediately following the extraction, we commence the fermentation process, which is key to preserving the cane’s grassy, natural, and earthy essence. During fermentation, we adopt a meticulous approach by discarding the "heads" and "tails" of the batch. This practice eliminates any impurities, leaving only the pure and refined "heart," which is the best part of the fermentation.

The carefully selected "heart" is then distilled with precision to craft the distinctively smooth and flavorful profile that defines Soul® Premium Cachaça. Our commitment to purity and quality means we use no additives, preservatives, GMOs, or coloring, ensuring that every bottle of Soul® remains true to its natural origins. THE ROOTS OF SOUL

®

The story of Soul® Premium Cachaça begins with our founder, Mark Lester. With Portuguese blood running through his veins, Mark's lineage is a vibrant tapestry woven with threads from Portugal, Africa, and Brazil. His grandparents, resilient and adventurous, fled Mozambique and Angola during tumultuous times in the wake of the Portuguese dictatorship's fall, finding refuge and a new home in the lively city of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

 

Growing up, Mark's life was enriched by the diverse cultures of his heritage. His childhood was punctuated by magical visits to his grandparents in Rio, where the spirit of Brazil was ever-present. These trips became even more frequent during his college years, as he sought solace and inspiration in Brazil during school breaks. It was during one of these formative visits that Mark was introduced to cachaça—the soul of Brazil. The moment he tasted this unique spirit, he fell irrevocably in love with it.

 

After college, Mark ventured into the corporate world, but the allure of cachaça never left him. His passion for the spirit and frustration with the lack of high-quality cachaça in the United States led him to a pivotal decision: he would bring the authentic taste of Brazil to American shores.

 

Mark's journey to create Soul Premium Cachaça was marked by years of diligent research and numerous trips to Brazil. He immersed himself in the rich culture and history of cachaça production, learning from master distillers and exploring the finest sugarcane plantations. His dedication paid off when he finally curated a collection of exceptional cachaças that captured the essence of Brazil's spirit.

 

With his vision in place, Mark opened a restaurant and bar in Newport, Rhode Island. It quickly became a haven for cachaça enthusiasts, who were captivated by the unparalleled quality of Soul Premium Cachaça. Word spread, and soon, Soul garnered a devoted fan base that extended far beyond Newport.

 

Fueled by this success and the unwavering belief in his product, Mark embarked on a mission to share Soul Premium Cachaça with the world. Today, Soul Premium Cachaça is celebrated globally, renowned for its exquisite flavor and the authentic Brazilian experience it offers.
